THE BARN.

Just seven miles away from downtown Asheville yet feels like you’ve stepped back in time to your private primitive getaway. This cabin has everything you will want or need to enjoy your retreat. It is the perfect combination of vintage and modern which is showcased by the early century stove and fridge that are both fully operational.

Your family can spend your evenings by the firepit roasting mellows, crowded in the living room playing one of the numerous board games, join in on some song and dance while playing the piano, or just kick back and enjoy the fresh mountain air.

  • This cabin was originally a barn that we converted into what you see today. We have tried to create a relaxing, cozy, authentic Appalachian cabin that can be shared with others. Much of the decor in the cabin are family heirlooms. The desk that is at the front door was my Great Grandfather's coal miners desk (on my Dad's side). It is made from dynamite boxes. The smaller photograph in the dining room is of him, Andy Black. He was a coal miner and passed away from a coal mining accident shortly after that picture was taken. My Grandfather, Pa Black, took his place working in the same coal mine at the age of 14. The head lamp inside the desk shelf was the one he wore in the mine. The man in the other larger photo is the brother of my Great Grandfather. The small foot stool was carved by my Great Grandfather (on my mom's side) He was a member of the Highland Crafter's Guild which you can visit and shop at in Biltmore Village. My Great Grandmother did the needlepoint on top. The Hardy Boy's collection is my dad's that he has had since he was young. We hope you feel welcome and enjoy your time at the cabin, and come back to visit
